That depends: are you going to be eating this cake for afternoon tea? Or serving smaller, celebration slices when guests will already be full after a meal? Are your guests mainly small children or hungry teenagers?
The above are therefore for guidance only based on my experience of serving cake at family gatherings and at children’s parties.
Remember that “naked” cakes tend to serve fewer people than cakes with lots of buttercream and / or a fondant coating, and that portions served at weddings are often much smaller.
The vast majority of my cakes are made bespoke to order, so I do not have a standard price list. However, the above starting prices might be helpful in commencing your enquiry. Please add 10% for vegan or gluten-free. Theme cakes are usually of the order of £30 above these prices to include a custom topper and other decorative details as required. Elsewhere in my website, you’ll find examples of these “add-on” prices.
For two-tier cakes, just add the prices of the individual tiers.
Items like macarons and fondant modelling increase the cost, as do more time-consuming designs or those with lots of colours (including rainbow cakes, unicorn cakes and mermaid cakes).
Please reach me at cakeforbreakfastsw20@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
In busy times I can get fully booked more than three weeks in advance and all custom designs require a minimum of two weeks' notice. I can usually accommodate cupcakes or some of my simpler cake designs with less warning, but not always. My regulars reserve the date as soon as they know it with a deposit (approximately 1/3 of the anticipated value) and get back to me closer to the time with the details. I accept wedding bookings up to 18 months in advance.
To help me give you the right information as efficiently as possible, please let me know:
I take a non-refundable deposit of 1/3 of the anticipated cake value to book in. The balance is due 2 weeks prior to collection, by which time the size, flavour of your cake and all decorative details must have been finalised.
Orders placed less than two weeks prior to collection are immediately payable in full up front to confirm the booking.
Payment is by bank transfer or I can send a credit card payment link for a 2.5% surcharge.
I get asked this a lot and I'm sorry to say that it's just not possible for the majority of orders. For orders above £300, large corporate orders and weddings, I do offer delivery for an additional fee starting at £30, or delivery and set up starting at £50. People sometimes send an Uber to collect cakes from me: I am happy to help ensure they are safely installed in the boot and you can meet them at the other end.
I am 'open' for collection 9:15-11am and 5:30-7:30pm Wednesday to Sunday, by prior arrangement. You can park right outside and there are no parking restrictions. Just mid the speed bumps!
Please tell me if you are considering doing this so that I can make necessary adjustments to my processes and timelines. Cakes can be collected the day before eating but must be stored in the fridge overnight. Cupcakes really are best on the day of collection: I can buy you some extra time by handing them over frozen so that they can thaw overnight and be perfect for the morning.
If you need to change the date of your event please let me know as soon as possible: I shall do everything I can to accommodate this, but it is not always possible if I am already fully booked on your chosen date. You can change sizes, flavours and even the design up to 2 weeks prior to collection: pricing may change accordingly. Please bear in mind that any bespoke items which have been made or ordered cannot be refunded, and it may not be possible for me to order new items for you at short notice. Many people add cupcakes to their order to accommodate late RSVPs: this is usually fine, just drop me an email.
You can cancel your order up to 2 weeks prior to collection and the balancing payment will not be payable. Deposits, however, are non-refundable and account for the time spent in the booking process, any bespoke items I may have already ordered for you as well as potential lost income if I cannot refill your slot. Less than two weeks prior to collection, the cake cannot be cancelled and unfortunately no refunds will be given. However, provided I have more than 72h notice, I may be able to delay your cake to a future date, or to hold the balancing portion of your payment against a future order. This is done solely on a case-by-case basis.
If you have seen something you like – either one of my designs or elsewhere –
please do just forward me the photo, the number of servings you need along
with the details of any allergies and I can quickly give you a quote.
